As per a study conducted by Nielsen Media India, on behalf of Amazon India, Indian consumers are bullish about shopping online during this festival season. Around 81% of consumers have shown intent to shop online during the 2023 festive season.
According to the study:
- 68% of consumers prefer the Amazon platform for online shopping.
- 87% of consumers in metros and 86% across tier-2 cities prefer to shop online during the festive season.
- 70% of consumers wait for the online festive season to purchase electronic items, because of the attractive offers, discounts, and new brand launches.

The Amazon Great Indian Festival Season attracts 9.5 crore customers in 48 hours
The Amazon Great Indian Festival Season 2023, started on 8th Oct 2023. In the next 48 hours, it recorded 9.5 crore customers. Amongst them, around 80% of the customers were from non-metro cities in India.
“The Amazon Great Indian Festival Season 2023 has witnessed a record of more than 110 crore visits with over 15 lakh new customers shopping on Amazon India for the first time,”

Going forward the one-day delivery was done for more than 10 Lakh customers. Creating a great customer experience and enabling an opportunity to explore their favorite brands. It was fulfilled by 14 lakh sellers listed on Amazon.in, these sellers are Indian MSMEs and Local Businesses and Stores. Amazon Business, today caters to more than 99.5% of pin codes in India. 38,000 sellers clocked their highest-ever single-day sales.
Beauty, Lifestyle, and Electronics are 2023’s top-selling categories.

The sales of beauty products increased by 51.5% as compared to last year. 47% of sales of beauty products were contributed by consumers in the 18 to 24 age group.
Lifestyle and electronics were the other major categories that clock robust sales this year. Smartphones, Adaptors, and Earpods were the top-selling products in the electronics category with brands like Redmi, Oneplus, and Boat.
